11 June – After a meeting between the chairman and board members of the A&W Community Assocation and project management at the Department of Urban Development, our Community Assocaition has received an invitation to an information evening about plans for the redevelopment of Carnegieplein
The plan has come about due to the relocation of the French Embassy to the so-called ‘kodakpand’ in Anna Paulownastraat (corner Laan van Meerdervoort) and the 100th anniversary of the Peace Palace in August next year. It will involve changes to the open space in this street in the Zeeheldenkwartier and to Burgemeester van Karenbeeklaan in our neighbourhood. In particular the plan will result in a significant reduction in available parking spaces, which will have to be compensated elsewhere: the creation of extra parking on the pavement in van Karnebeeklaan.
The Community Association is concerned that this will have dangerous consequences for local cyclists and the A&W working group for Local Traffic will hopefully voice these concerns at the public meeting:
Tuesday 26 June
19.30 – 21.00
(doors open at 19.15)
Soefikerk, Anna Paulownastraat 78
In order to make the necessary preparations for this public meeting registration beforehand is required before 22 June.
