from 6 October 2018 to 3 March 2019
Saturday the 6th of October the exhibition ‘The friends of Quentin Blake’ opens in House of the book | Museum Meermanno. It is the first time that there is so much original work from this world-famous illustrator. You can see his work for children’s books but also very early drawings and unknown work for adults. Quentin Blake gives the visitor a glimpse into his head: he explains step by step how he makes illustrations based on a text. Blake tells this on the basis of more than 150 original drawings, photographs, illustrations, miniatures and typesetting. Quentin Blake works together with well-known authors including, of course, Roald Dahl but also John Yeoman, Michael Rosen and David Walliams. He also illustrated classics by Charles Dickens, La Fontaine and the latest book by Beatrix Potter. Visitors, young and old, can get to work on an individual basis in various places to make an illustration or to design a book cover. The exhibition is for both children and adults and can be seen until 3 March 2019 in the House of the book | Museum Meermanno.
