“At the beginning of 2018, I was busy making plans for the new year, just like so many others. I actually always set myself a sporting challenge every year and this year I also wanted to add a social purpose to it. The reason I chose this goal is that I really believe in the power of education and would like to fight for equal opportunities for men and women. The projects of Plan Nederland focus on this. The combination of this sporting challenge and this beautiful goal, are for me a perfect combination! “, Says Stephanie Koevermans.

Meanwhile, Stephanie is busy with raising money. “It is very nice to see how many people are enthusiastic about contributing. I am also working on the organization of a Benefit Bootcamp on 14 April at Kwartellaan in The Hague. Caroline Kloots-Koster and Patrick van Leeuwen as professional bootcamp trainers help me with this. It is also very nice to see that there are so many people who want to help spontaneously! “.

The proceeds of Cycle for Plan Malawi invests Plan in programs against child marriages. Malawi is in ninth place in countries with the highest number of child marriages in the world. Child marriages make a good future for girls impossible: they can not finish their school education, are more likely to be mistreated and their health is seriously endangered by a pregnancy at a young age. Plan fights against child marriages by increasing access to education for girls and helps girls build their self-esteem. The organization also lobbies for better enforcement of the law.
