Passion time is traditionally a time of reflection, the music of the various composers varies from sober and stilled to intense and dramatic. Cutting dissonants dissolve in consoling harmonies. ‘Es ist accomplished’.
The Residentie Kamerkoor, conducted by Jos Vermunt, will perform a selection of well-known and lesser-known passion music on 3 March a.s. The special ‘Via crucis – the 14 stations of the cross’ by Franz Liszt is performed. Bethany Shepherd, soprano and Hessel Vredeveldt, baritone collaborate, as well as pianist Erwin Rommert Weerstra. In addition, some shorter works are performed, among others Knut Nystedt, ‘Die sieben Worte Jesu am Kreuz’ and Max Reger ‘O Tod, who bitter bist du’.
